We admitted that we were powerless over our emotions and were no longer able to manage our own lives.
We came to believe that only a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
We decided to place our will and our lives in the care of God as we understand him.
Without any fear, we took a moral inventory of ourselves.
We admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact nature of our faults.
We were willing for God to remove all these character defects.
We humbly ask God to rid us of our shortcomings.
We made a list of all those people we had offended and we were willing to repair the damage we caused them.
We make direct reparation to as many as possible for the harm we had caused them, except in those cases where doing so would harm themselves or others.
We continued to do our personal inventory and when we made a mistake we admitted it immediately.
We seek through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we conceive Him, only asking Him to let us know His Will for us and give us the strength to accept it.
Having experienced a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to neurotics and to practice these principles in all our actions.
